The Call of Duty video game series has remained to be one of the most successful FPS franchises in gaming history. It has sold more than 400 million copies worldwide and is also hailed as the best-selling first-person shooter game series. The series has expanded to multiple main sequels and spin-offs for different game platforms ever since it was launched by Infinity Ward in 2003.

When the “battle royale” genre started to emerge, many games incorporated the format and turned it into a special campaign. The franchise had its first successful take in Battle Royale through its “Blackout” campaign which was first introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 in 2018 (this time, developed by Treyarch). Two years later, Infinity Ward along with Raven Software, developed another Call of Duty title that merely focused on battle royale gameplay. This is when Call of Duty: Warzone was born.

Unlike the typical battle royale games which allow 100 players to be deployed on a remote battlefield, Call of Duty: Warzone allows a maximum of 150 players to battle for survival. Although the game was well-received both critically and commercially, Warzone’s online servers were shut down last year to give way to the new Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. The game, however, is only available for higher gaming consoles such as PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Windows.

Introducing Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile

Interestingly, the shutdown of the Warzone Caldera server also gave birth to some other exciting Call of Duty titles. This, of course, includes the recently launched Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile. As the title suggests, this game will bring you all the elements you enjoyed from Call of Duty: Warzone straight to your mobile device.

To reach wider audiences, many game-developing companies started to venture onto mobile platforms. They modified and optimized their games to make them more “mobile friendly” while trying not to compromise the experience and the quality of their games. FPS and battle royale titles like Apex Legends and Fortnite managed to reach the same level of success after launching their mobile versions.

Targeting the mobile platform is not really new for Call of Duty. Various developers already made numerous attempts to bring the epic game to the small screen. Most recently, TiMi Studio Group (Arena of Valor and Pokemon Unite) launched Call of Duty: Mobile, bringing all the classic campaigns from major Call of Duty titles. In fact, the game also comes with a Battle Royale mode that allows up to 100 players in the battle zone.

The Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, however, just like its predecessor, will merely focus on the battle royale campaign. It will bring you back to the same iconic maps of Verdansk and Rebirth Island along with other “Warzone originals” like weapons, operators, and events. The game managed to capture both the graphics and the gaming experience delivered by its console counterparts.

The game currently offers five modes or campaigns to explore. These include the classic Battle Royale with up to 120 players in the field, Mobile Royale that features faster combat with only 78 players to be deployed in the battle zone, and Rebirth Resurgence which allows you to redeploy your fallen teammates in the battle. There are also Multiplayer campaigns like Mosh Pit and Shoot the Ship campaigns.

Customizable load-outs, skins, and gears are also available as part of its reward system and in-game shop. In addition to that, there are limited events that you can participate in. It also features a Battle Pass reward system and cross-progression, and more.
