When it comes to platform fighting games, there were only a few titles that managed to become commercially and critically successful. Ever since it was launched in 1999, Super Smash Bros dominated the category for years and soon established itself as a successful game series. For a game that pioneered the genre, it is not surprising to receive a decent level of success and it is also not surprising to see other game companies develop their own game and incorporate unique tweaks to the genre. From the creators of Ragnarok Online, Ulala: Idle Adventure, and Torchlight comes a new platform fighting game that takes you to a colorful yet intense brawl adventure.

Flash Party is a mobile platform fighter developed and published by XD Entertainment. It features a bunch of colorful characters in an epic battle. Unlike the aforementioned fighting games though, most of the playable characters in Flash Party are exclusively created for the game. However, recent updates started introducing characters from different video games.

Flash Party Gameplay

The main highlight of most platform-fighting games is the concept of cross-over. Here, multiple characters from various games are being gathered to join the clash of heroes. Interestingly, Flash Party is embracing the same concept. The mechanics of this game are simple yet tricky at the same time. The goal is to knock your enemies off the stage using your unique set of abilities. Using the tap-based buttons, you can perform numerous attacks and actions to win each match. The first character to knock opponents three times will win the game.

As soon as the game starts, the game will initially provide Sivi, the default character, and prompt players to complete the training mode before entering the actual PvP battle. Flash Party offers multiple campaigns to explore. The Matchmaking Mode, for instance, is the first PvP battle available for players. This campaign comes with multiple modes that you can unlock upon reaching a certain number of stars. These modes include 1v1, 2v2, Brawl, Party Record, and 3v3 Tag Team Match.

Once engaged in battle, players will be sent into a floating arena. You can use the virtual joypad to move around and the tap-based buttons to execute skills, jump, and shield. Again, the goal is to knock the opponent off of the stage. If the opponent loses all 3 chances, the game ends and you win the match. Completing a match grants you multiple rewards including experience, gold coins, star passes, party passes, and many more.

Unlock and Upgrade Characters

Since the game is new, Flash Party only has 20 unique characters to their current roster but they will be adding more soon. Each character comes with a unique design and art style which gives Flash Party a nice cross-over vibe. More than their unique appearances, each character also comes with a distinct skill set and combo attacks. The recent Stardust Warriors update divided the heroes into four different classes; Rounder, Assaulter, Power House, and Impeder. Each class comes with an exclusive fighting mechanism that you can master.

To make your character more effective and efficient, you can also upgrade them. You can do so by collecting enough energy and coins. Energy can be obtained in many ways. For instance, you can get some from the Star Passes and Party Passes’ reward system. You can also obtain energy from daily login and spin bonuses. You can also purchase them from the in-game shop. Interestingly, if you have enough “lucky coins”, you can also purchase a new hero of a different rarity. There is also a new Sticker System that provides your hero with a new move and fighting style. And to make your character look more unique and appealing, Flash Party recently introduced a Skin system, allowing you to give your hero an amazing appearance while fighting.

Explore Other Campaigns

Aside from the Matchmaking mode, Flash Party also offers equally exciting and challenging campaigns. There is an Arena Mode that comes with a ranking and leaderboard system. Like Matchmaking, it comes with multiple sub-campaigns to explore including the Pinnacle 1v1, Pinnacle Relay, and Pinnacle Team. The game also offers a so-called Lab Mode that will introduce players to game modes that are currently under development.

Flash Party is indeed a well-polished game that is wonderfully optimized for mobile devices. It offers console-grade graphics and unique gameplay that every gamer will enjoy. As a fighting game, Flash Party comes with impressive replay value. While the game offers limited characters at the moment compared to other games of the same genre, Flash Party showcases great potential to grow in the future. Collaboration with other game developers could help them expand their growing roster of heroes. Another great thing about the game aside from being free is the cross-platform capability.
