It’s a big year for NetEase Games. App gamers are already on tenterhooks for the imminent release of Diablo Immortal, which is set to release on June 2nd. But in their recent NetEase Connect event, the prolific publisher also announced some great news for Potterheads. We can now expect the highly anticipated Harry Potter app game, Harry Potter: Magic Awakened, to release globally this year as well.

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is a collectible card RPG that takes place a few years after the events of the last Harry Potter book. Needless to say, it capitalizes on every Harry Potter fans’ fantasy by putting the player in the shoes of a brand new Hogwarts student.

Given that it takes place so close to the source material, some familiar faces will of course make an appearance as players navigate the wizarding world as a witch or wizard starting their first year at Hogwarts. Players will create a unique character, purchase their school supplies, get sorted into a house and engage in magical duels through card game mechanics.

Lucky Harry Potter fans in China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan have already begun their magical journeys as the Harry Potter app game has launched in those regions and been downloaded over 50 million times. But they will soon be joined by players from around the world as NetEase confirmed a global launch this very year.

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is set to launch on mobile and PC with cross-platform functionality, meaning players can seamlessly flit between PC and mobile to continue the progress they have made.

The Harry Potter app game release date wasn’t the only big reveal at NeatEase Connect 2022, however. The publisher also announced a mobile port for mythical battle royale, Naraka Bladepoint and revealed strategy game The Lord of the Rings: Rise To War and survival game Once Be Human, to name a couple.
