Avatar: The Last Airbender is probably one of the most successful and highly-acclaimed animated tv series of all time. It expanded into three amazing seasons and eventually became a major franchise for Nickelodeon. The series was adapted into a movie and a new Netflix series is currently under production. The success of the program also gave birth to other equally successful spin-offs. While we are all waiting for the upcoming series adaptation, a new official Avatar mobile game is released. CDE Entertainment recently published Avatar: Generations which features all your favorite characters from the Avatar universe.

The game is developed by Canada-based studio Navigator Games which is best known for its work in the RPG Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast. Avatar: Generations, as the title suggests, will highlight all the timelines from the Avatar Universe. It means that the game will cover both Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel The Legend of Korra. The game is generally a retelling of all the familiar stories from the animated series and is more like an RPG version of the well-acclaimed program. If you are an avid fan of Avatar, this game is definitely something you can confidently add to your device.

Avatar  Gameplay

The mechanics of the game are generally simple and manageable. Basically, the game is more like a retelling of the classic Avatar animated series that we all loved but in an RPG fashion. As soon as the game begins, it prompts you to the first chapter where Katara and her brother Sokka accidentally discovered a huge iceberg and awaken the so-called Avatar, the last air bender. As the story progresses, you will encounter more characters from the Avatar Universe and they will also accompany you along the way. Beloved characters like Aang, Katara, Zuko, Sokka, Toph, and even characters from the recent sequel will make appearances in the game.

A Turn-Based RPG

Avatar: Generations comes with a simple yet visually appealing battle system. The battles are presented in a nice 3D and interactive environment. Once engaged in battle, it takes you to a classic-inspired turn-based combat system. Unlike traditional RPGs, however, the game doesn’t offer character creation. There will be no class system or the ability to choose which nation (fire, wind, earth, and water) you want to be a part of. The plot follows a strict linear progression which is merely based on the original storyline of the animated series.

What you will love about this game is how it remains faithful to the original materials. Characters, for instance, are armed with the appropriate skill set based on how they are originally depicted in the series. Each character has its own skill set that can be upgraded. During the battle, you will find a collection of small portraits at the lower left corner of the game screen to indicate the sequence or order of attack. You can manipulate the order according to your preferences. There is also a Combo attack that allows multiple characters to attack in a single turn.

Like any RPG, the game will also rely heavily on quests to progress. It is interesting to note that some quests will require you to assign a specific set of characters to proceed. If the character is needed as part of the story, you must assign them to gain progress and access certain levels.

Your Favorite Avatar Characters in 3D

If you are an avid fan of the series, this game will certainly not disappoint. All your favorite characters from the series are present and playable in Avatar: Generations. Each character also has different variations of themselves. You can upgrade their skills and power to increase their attributes and make them more efficient in every battle. Players can upgrade characters by heading back to the Main Menu and by tapping the Heroes section. This gives you access to all the characters or heroes you have obtained from missions or the in-game gacha system.

While there are over 200 characters to unlock, you can only assign a maximum of 4 characters in each mission. In addition to that, the game also features a pet companion system. These magic creatures will act as a support system to help you win battles. Aside from the main campaign (Adventure Mode), you will soon unlock other equally engaging modes, including the Arema, Training Grounds, Element Quests, Pirate’s Domain, Arts Expedition, Boss Battles, and other special limited-time events.

Gacha and Reward Systems

Avatar Generations also highlights a Gacha system. Using scrolls, players can summon either a new character or rare upgrade materials. The game comes with a lot of banners to choose from. Each offers different items and characters of different rarity. Each banner also requires a different form of game currency and summoning tickets. You can also take advantage of the game’s overwhelming number of reward systems. You can obtain various prizes through daily logins, achievements, daily missions, signup bonuses, and many more. Knowing that the game is new, they are really generous in providing rewards in the form of virtual currency, rare sets of items, or if you are lucky enough, you might obtain a new hero too.

Appearance-wise, Avatar: Generations is an absolute visual delight. It treats you with remarkable 3D visuals while remaining faithful to its original source material. The game still captures the animated series vibe to it while successfully incorporating RPG elements to it. It comes with impressive voiceovers and is also accompanied by a well-fitting piece of music and audio effects to transport you into the ever-growing Avatar Universe. If you love the animated series, you will certainly find this new Avatar game equally fascinating and fun. Good luck!
