Here are App Games to Look Forward to This 2023

Last year was indeed a big year for mobile gaming. We were introduced to many awesome titles as well as mobile versions of giant franchises. This, of course, includes the highly anticipated Apex Legends Mobile that brought the action-packed experience into the small screen. Diablo Immortal also made a huge buzz last year, as well as other titles like Tomb Raider Reloaded, Disney Mirrorverse, and the nostalgic Afterplace. Interestingly, it seems like we are going to welcome this new year with an equally exciting and entertaining lineup of app games. Today, we are listing down all the highly anticipated game titles that will be released for mobile platforms in 2023.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile

One of the biggest titles to hit the app market this year is the mobile version of the giant franchise. It seems that we are about to expect a lot of mobile-exclusive editions of some of our favorite PC and video games. After the massive success of Apex Legends Mobile, it is not impossible that some game development companies will follow the same approach to reach broader audiences. It is not new for the Call of Duty franchise to hit the small screens. In 2019, they managed to launch the Call of Duty: Mobile and received both critical and commercial success.

Now, they are bringing another equally successful title to the platform. Call of Duty: Warzone is a free-to-play video game that was launched in 2020 for gaming consoles like PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows. The mobile edition of the aforementioned title is set to globally release this year. In fact, they had a limited release a few months ago, allowing mobile gamers to test their newest offering. Unlike the Call of Duty: Mobile, Warzone is said to focus more on Multiplayer Modes while bringing all the elements that we all enjoyed from the Call of Duty: Warzone video games.

Zenless Zone Zero

miHoYo, the company behind the highly successful Genshin Impact made a major rebranding last year. They changed the company name from miHoYo to HoYoverse. As part of this big change, they are bringing some great titles to the table. One of which is the Zenless Zone Zero. The game is described as an urban fantasy action role-playing game that takes you on an epic adventure. The game will take place in a post-apocalyptic futuristic city of New Eridu where dark forces known as Ethereals are attempting to invade. Now, new heroes must rise to save the world and bring it back to its former glory.

In this game, you play the role of Proxy who help other heroes explore various hostile alternate dimensions through portals called Hollows. Like a classic ARPG style, you will be accompanied by other heroes in your journey. Based on the recently released trailer, the game will introduce a faction system. Each faction comes with a colorful set of characters armed with a different set of skills that you can combine during combat to win over your enemies. Appearance-wise, the game will showcase beautiful anime-styled characters that will surely give you some awesome Genshin Impact vibes.

Valorant Mobile

Since Apex Legends Mobile is already a massive hit, it is quite expected that its rival game will be hitting the mobile platform real soon. Many gamers were expecting that Valorant will release its mobile version last year but that didn’t happen, making the anticipation even greater. Despite lacking details about the game, Riot Games already confirmed that they will indeed release a mobile version of their epic Valorant game, allowing mobile gamers to experience the action-packed 5v5 battle on the small screens.

Valorant works the same way with Apex Legends where two teams of five players will engage in an epic strategic battle. In this game, players can choose from a huge roster of Agents and each comes with a unique skillset. Aside from their skills, players can also take advantage of the game’s massive weaponry. It also offers a great number of exciting and challenging game modes including its well-loved Attack and Defend campaign. It is expected that Valorant Mobile will offer the same level of experience!

Jujutsu Kaisen: Phantom Parade

From one of the successful anime series today comes a mobile game that features all your favorite characters. Like most anime series in Japan, Jujutsu Kaisen first started as a manga until it was adapted into an animated series in 2019. It was then followed by a special film adaptation. This critically acclaimed anime series was hailed as the Anime of the Year by many award-giving bodies. It is not really surprising that the anime will soon be adapted into a game. Generally, the anime follows the story of Yuji who joins a school club only to find out that all the members are actual sorcerers with tremendous powers and abilities.

Interestingly, Jujutsu Kaisen: Phantom Parade was supposed to launch last year but it was delayed to the Spring of 2023. This upcoming mobile action RPG is developed by Sumzap Inc which is also behind the D Cide Traumerei mobile game and is published by TOHO games. An official trailer was released revealing some of the well-loved characters from the series. It is also considered to be the first official mobile game of Jujutsu Kaisen. If you are a big fan of the series, this is definitely something to look forward to.

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened

It is either a hit or a miss when it comes to Harry Potter mobile games. There is a great number of Harry Potter games today but not all of them were critically acclaimed. For instance, the augmented reality Harry Potter game (Harry Potter: Wizards Unite) didn’t get much success and was finally put to a close early last year. The same thing goes with Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery which despite commercial success was a critical failure. This year, another Harry Potter game will be launched. It is officially developed by Warner Bros. and NetEase, giving this upcoming game the anticipation it deserves.

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is a merge between RPG and a collectible card game. The story will take place ten years after the epic Battle of Hogwarts. You will play the role of a new Muggle-born who got invited into Hogwarts. The player can customize the character and engage in various activities within the wizard school including the Dueling Club and Quidditch matches. It also highlights a gacha system, allowing players to collect different spell cards that they can use in the battle. If you are a certified Potterhead, this is definitely the game to look out for.

Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis

SquareEnix is publishing another Final Fantasy VII game which will become part of its ever-growing Final Fantasy VII compilation. Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis is developed by Applibot. It is interesting to note that this is not the first time that Applibot and SquareEnix collaborated. In 2021, they developed Nier Reincarnation, an RPG game that follows the story of a little girl guided by a ghost-like being. Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis is set to follow a chapter-based structure with monthly episodic installments to follow. It aims to retell all the events from the original 1997 video game and all other events in between all its canon spin-off compilations.

It is said that the game will feature a command-style RPG system and will remain faithful to the original Final Fantasy VII combat system. Of course, the game is set to feature all the well-loved Final Fantasy VII characters including Cloud Strife, Tifa Lockhart, Barret Wallace, Aerith Gainsborough, and Zack Fair. It is expected to have a global release this year including a closed beta this summer of 2023.

Honkai: Star Rail

After the success of Honkai Impact 3rd, HoYoverse (formerly miHoYo) will be releasing the fourth installment of the series. Honkai: Star Rail will follow the events after its predecessor. Welt Yang travels to a parallel universe to start a journey of his own. This is where a new chapter begins. Honkai: Star Rail is a real-time strategy role-playing game that will take players on a cosmic adventure across the stars. The futuristic and intergalactic adventure will also highlight new characters along with the alternate versions of the well-loved heroes from the previous installment.

In this game, the player will control a team of four characters where each comes with a distinct set of skills. Just like Honkai Impact 3rd, Star Rail will also highlight the gacha system, allowing players to earn new characters through so-called pulls. Like its predecessors, players are most likely encouraged to spend real money to get a guaranteed good result. Appearance-wise, the game is seemingly another visual delight that treats you with beautifully designed characters and an immersive 3D open world to explore.

Demon Slayer: Battle Royal

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is one of the most popular modern anime series of recent times. It was based on the manga of the same name that follows the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a teenage boy who strives to become a demon slayer after losing his family and saving his sister who turned into a demon. After the success of the anime, it was soon adapted into multiple media franchises. It was soon turned into a video game ~ Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles developed by CyberConnect2 for Windows, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.

Demon Slayer: Battle Royal or Kimetsu no Yaiba: Keppu Kengeki is the first Demon Slayer game to be released for the mobile platform. It is developed by Quatro A, the same team behind the Touhou Project. Although the game was already announced last 2020, the release of the mobile game was delayed to further improve its quality. No further details were released yet but the game is described as an asymmetric battle arena action game based on the popular anime. It is said to focus mainly on multiplayer elements.

Peridot

After the massive success of Pokemon Go that brought Augmented Reality to an all-new level, Niantic has released another AR game. Peridot is an interactive AR mobile game that takes you to a fantastical world of adorable Peridot. These are cute virtual pets that you can raise until they evolved into beautiful fascinating creatures. Similar to a virtual pet simulation, the game allows you to foster magical Peridots. In the entire course of the game, you are allowed to pet, play, feed, train, and teach your virtual Peridots to keep them healthy and to help them grow.

Like Pokemon Go, the game will use your real-time location to navigate around the virtual map. As you explore, you can unlock various features, uncover hidden treasures, and engage in an epic adventure. In addition to that, you can also breed your Peridots and diversify them as you produce a new generation of creatures. Currently, the game is open for Pre-registration.

Monster Hunter Mobile

Monster Hunter is one of Capcom’s most successful game franchises. Ever since the first game was released in 2004, it eventually expanded into a successful game series with multiple installments and spin-offs for different gaming platforms. It is also not the first attempt for Capcom to release a mobile-exclusive edition of Monster Hunter. In 2020, they released a game called “Monster Hunter Riders” that features classic RPG elements. Interestingly, Capcom recently announced that a new Monster Hunter mobile game is in development.

The game will be developed by TiMi Studio, the same development team behind games like Call of Duty and Pokemon Unite. Although it is not yet clear if Monster Hunter Mobile is just a working title and if the game will be a faithful mobile edition of the original video game. Nevertheless, fans of the franchise will surely find this highly intriguing.
