Why Genshin Impact 2.7 Delayed Indefinitely:

Genshin Impact 2.7

As if we needed any reminders that the pandemic is far from over, Genshin Impact developer MiHoYo hammered it home with a Tweet this weekend. Thanks to the strict lock-down in Shanghai – where MiHoYo is based – Genshin Impact Version 2.7 will be postponed.

The rumor mill had been turning in the lead up to this announcement, with fans predicting that the Shanghai lock-down would have some adverse effects on the development of the anticipated May update. And unfortunately, those concerns were proven true.

However, the community has since rallied in support of the dev team, urging them via Twitter to stay safe while fans wait patiently for Genshin Impact 2.7. Which is no surprise, as the inability to work efficiently under lock-down conditions is far from the developer’s fault.

Despite this, the team even spoke about compensating players in their initial announcement Tweet. Proving once again why this gacha game is so beloved among fans. If previous behavior is anything to go by, then this compensation will probably take the form of some free in-game currency. Though Twitter users are also insisting that compensation is not necessary.

Genshin Impact 2.7 was predicted to release around 10th May, with myriad leaks suggesting some exciting new content in store. Two new characters include the 5-star Hydro archer Yelan and 4-star Electro character Kuki Shinobu. While new events including a rhythm game are also speculated to make an appearance.

Unfortunately, however, we must wait for an unspecified amount of time before being able to enjoy the latest update – which are typically rolled out on a very regular basis. As the Shanghai lock-down enters its fifth week, the jury’s out on when the MiHoYo team can get back to their offices and start churning out their updates with the same regularity we’ve grown to love.

For now, however, MiHoYo has suggested that people keep an eye on their Twitter for updates as they develop. In the meantime, there’s still plenty of rich content for players to get stuck into in-game as they await Genshin Impact 2.7
