Blizzard Entertainment is probably best known for its well-acclaimed Warcraft franchise which became one of the most successful video games of all time, both commercially and critically. Ever since the first Warcraft game was released in 1994, it has become a massive hit which eventually expanded to multiple sequels and spin-offs. While everyone is waiting for the much-awaited release of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic this coming 2024, Blizzard Entertainment released a spin-off game that will take you to the same Warcraft universe but in a surprisingly cute fashion.
Warcraft Rumble is a mobile action strategy game that is set in the same Warcraft universe. While the game features familiar characters, Warcraft Rumble is played in an entirely different manner. Here, the goal is to knock down enemies, particularly the bosses by deploying your troops on the field. The game will, somehow, remind you of Clash Royale. You are also encouraged to unlock more characters which are referred to in this game as the “minis”. It is interesting to note that Blizzard Entertainment is not new in developing Warcraft spin-offs. For instance, they managed to build a successful collectible card game via Heartstone.
A Simplified Strategy Battle
The mechanics of Warcraft Bubble are generally simple and easily manageable. As soon as the game starts, it prompts you to the world map. Each location comes with multiple stages that must be explored sequentially. Each stage comes with a boss that you must defeat to progress. To do so, you must start deploying troops on the battlefield. Take note that each hero will vary depending on their skills, range of attack, and the number of golds needed to summon them. The stronger your hero is, the bigger the number of golds needed to deploy them.
Once deployed, the heroes will automatically move towards the enemy’s base. They will attack every enemy that they will encounter along the way. Much like your heroes, enemies also come with different levels and skills. The rate of difficulty will drastically increase as you progress. To maximize your chances of winning, you must come up with an effective strategy. You cannot just simply deploy whoever hero is available. It is important to visualize the battlefield and the type of enemies you are dealing with. For instance, each enemy comes with their own element. You must strategize your attack by sending the right troops.
Gold is the most important resource in this game. Without it, you cannot summon any heroes on the battlefield. While the gold generates automatically, you can expedite the process by mining them. To do so, you can summon Kobold Miner on the field. These are weak humanoids who do not have the ability to fight yet they can mine gold to boost its production. The battle quickly ends when the boss gets defeated. However, if the enemy manages to destroy your base, the game will also come to a quick end, and you have no other option but to start the battle back from the beginning.
Gather the Best Heroes
Your victory will highly depend on the heroes you have included in your squad. Currently, the game offers up to 54 heroes to unlock. Out of these numbers, you can only pick 6 minis to be part of your army. You can, however, swap minis by visiting your Army page. The minis can be collected in multiple ways. They can be collected through various reward systems such as level completion, achievement system, quests, and many more.
You also have the opportunity to upgrade the minis by collecting the same fragments. By doing so, you can unlock the hero’s full potential and make them more effective in the battle. It is also important to create balance in your army. Ideally, the army should be composed of both melee and long-ranged fighters. This will help you prevent enemies from breaking through your defenses. Otherwise, the game comes to a quick end.
The game also introduces the so-called Sigil. The player earns one sigil every time a stage is cleared. The more sigil you collect, the more features and campaigns you can unlock. For instance, collecting 8 Sigil will unlock the game’s PvP mode. This allows you to compete with other online players. Other unlockable features include Quest, Dungeons, Raids, and more. You will also have access to Guilds once you have collected 10 Sigil. Interestingly, this Sigil system provides Warcraft Rumble with decent replay value and longevity.
Since Rumble is a free-to-play game, it also utilizes microtransactions, allowing them to buy power-ups and new and rare heroes.
Appearance-wise, the game is surely a visual delight that treats players with an overloading cuteness. Instead of the signature Warcraft design, Rumble features a miniature version of Warcraft characters. The beautiful animation is also accompanied by a well-fitting piece of music that makes the game even more inviting. To top it all off, the game even allows you to equip “Emotes” to make your heroes even more fun to play with.
While Warcraft Rumble is a new take on the classic Warcraft franchise, the concept of the game is not exactly original. It is closely similar to Clash Royale, Brawl Stars, and Spellbinders. Despite that, that game is still worth exploring regardless if you are familiar with the ever-growing Warcraft universe or not. Overall, it is a charming game that comes with decent challenges and fun.
