It is not surprising why most giant game-developing companies are targeting the platform to reach a wider audience and of course, bigger revenue. This probably explains why we have so many console game titles that were either ported into mobile or gave birth to some spin-offs that were exclusively optimized for mobile devices.

Today, we are going to list down some of the highly anticipated titles that will be released for Android and iOS devices this year.

Path of Exile Mobile

Ever since Path of Exile was launched in 2013, it received a cult following. While the game shares a lot of notable elements from the Diablo game series, Path of Exile (PoE) is still special and unique on its own. The game takes you to a dark fantasy world where you play one of the exiles. The player will be asked to choose from seven playable classes, and each comes with its own skills and abilities. The goal is to defeat all the ancient gods and evils that you will encounter along the way. Grinding Gear Games is currently working on a sequel – the Path of Exile 2, which is set to take place 20 years after the events of the first game.

However, it was also announced by the Studio that they are also working with a mobile version of PoE. It was first announced in 2019 but due to many circumstances, including the global pandemic, the project was seemingly shelved for a while. Interestingly, it was recently announced that Path of Exile 2 will have a closed beta release this coming June 2024 and the Path of Exile Mobile is rumored to be launched after the release of the much-awaited sequel. Also, PoE Mobile is said to take place 20 years before the first game, making it a prequel to this growing franchise.

Neopets Mobile

Speaking of throwbacks, nothing can be more nostalgic than this news! Neopets are set to come back and are hitting the mobile screen soon. Neopets is a virtual pet game that was launched as a browser game in the late 90s. Aside from its unique pet system, the game also introduced immersive advertising which soon changed the landscape of traditional online marketing practice. Neopets were acquired by many companies all through the years. It was bought by Viacom in 2005 followed by JumpStart Games in 2014. In 2017, it was acquired by NetDragon.

However, when the Flash Player support ended in 2020, it seemed like the studio failed to have a successful transition from Flash to HTML5. In June of 2023, the studio officially announced the closure of Neopets. They even had an attempt to venture to NFT but failed. Interestingly, Neopets was recently bought from NetDragon by an independent company (World of Neopia Inc) with plans to make massive and meaningful changes to the classic game. While the new studio confirmed that they are planning to revamp the website and make it more mobile-friendly, they are also planning to develop mobile apps to expand the Neopets universe. Also, they are probably planning to launch something special as they celebrate the game’s 25th anniversary.
